Blood and Honey is a single from Summer of Hate's second album, a shoegaze journey of psychedelic energy that demands striking imagery to do it justice. I had the opportunity to create its music video with director Pedro M. Afonso and cinematographer Daniel Marques, under the banner of our collective @asgthing.
The film traps the band in a hellish and allegorical loop, tinged with the shadows of grindhouse cinema and particularly influenced by David Lynch's Lost Highway. To top it off, it ended up being released, coincidentally, on the first anniversary of the director's passing. When stars align like this, we call it a happy accident. But in this case, the stars who deserve credit are the crew and the band themselves, who, with very few resources, ensured a highly professional and cinematic look, from the wardrobe to the lighting.
