This political thriller series, created by myself and Pedro M. Afonso, is currently being developed with the production company HOP! Films, to be directed by Henrique Oliveira. The writing and development process was supported by the Portuguese Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual, which rated the project's quality and cultural relevance as high.

 

Set between Portugal and Galicia, the story begins with the catastrophic collision of an oil tanker with a mysterious unidentified ship. The resulting oil spill proves devastating for coastal communities and it becomes imperative to hold those responsible to account. Parallel investigations are carried out involving the Portuguese secret services and the whole of Iberian media, which eventually intersect with profound consequences.

Loosely inspired by the 2002 Prestige oil spill and the more recently exposed activities of the shadow fleet, a fleet of Russian ships that uses concealment tactics to smuggle sanctioned goods internationally, the series seeks to pay tribute to those who dare to cross dangerous waters in search of the truth, at any cost.
